DENTAL IMPLANTS
THE MOST FUNCTIONALLY, STRUCTURALLY AND AESTHETICALLY SUPERIOR SOLUTION FOR A MISSING TOOTH OR TEETH.
Statistics provided by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons show that 69% of adults ages 35 to 44 have lost at least one permanent tooth to an accident, gum disease, a failed root canal or tooth decay. By age 74, 26% of adults have lost all of their permanent teeth.

MISSING TEETH CAUSE MORE THAN JUST A GAP
Missing teeth compromise your other teeth.
Missing teeth can mis-align your bite.
Missing teeth cause bone loss.
Missing teeth change the shape of your face.
Missing teeth can cause speech issues.
Missing teeth can jeopardize your confidence.

A Penn State University Study confirmed that when you smile, you not only appear more likeable and courteous, but you’re also actually perceived as more competent.
Dental implants can be used as replacement for a single tooth, groups of teeth, or an entire arch of teeth. They can also be used to stabilize loose or ill-fitting dentures. In addition to placing and restoring dental implants, our oral surgery, prosthodontic and orthodontic specialists can team up to plan for and provide bone grafting, sinus lifts and root augmentations, depending on your needs and desired outcome.

DENTAL IMPLANTS MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE ONE OR MORE MISSING TEETH AND:
- You want to replace a missing tooth or teeth to restore the structure of your jaw and bite
- You want a solution that doesn’t compromise other teeth like a dental bridge can
- You want your existing teeth to stay sound and natural looking
- You want to be able to enjoy eating any type of foods
- You want to feel confident when you smile big
- You want to keep your teeth clean and your gums healthy
- You’re dealing with the struggles that come with ill-fitting partial or full dentures
- You want a longer lasting solution than the dental bridge alternative
- You want a solution that, over time, is more cost effective and avoids replacing
- You don’t want to have to grind down adjacent teeth to anchor bridges or attach dentures
- You have a speech impediment that may be corrected with dental implant placement

WHY DENTAL IMPLANTS WORK SO WELL
When a tooth or teeth are missing, your jawbone loses the stability of the missing tooth roots. Implants act as the tooth root. They are placed deep in the jawbone, resulting in stimulating the bone to grow. Rather than interfering with jawbone growth, implants actually assist it. This is the benefit of dental implants over dental bridges and dentures. The integrity of your jawbone and your neighboring teeth become exponentially better.
Dental implants are made of a titanium post. Titanium is the most biocompatible material known to man.
Your titanium post provides a sturdy structure to help maintain the position of your remaining teeth. Once surgically placed, an artificial tooth, known as a crown, is placed on top. When positioning and structure is corrected and solid, it allows for natural chewing and biting without sacrificing your other teeth. The titanium in the implant fuses with your jawbone. Because of this, the implants won’t slip, make noise or cause bone damage the way fixed bridgework or dentures might. The materials cannot decay like your own teeth that tend to be compromised while supporting regular bridgework. Dental implants are a superior solution to a missing tooth or teeth.

PAIN AND ANXIETY FREE
Sunshine Smiles’ ability to provide a stress and pain free experience is unparalleled. Depending on the phase you are in to complete your dental implants, you and your specialist will decide on the level of sedation you require for relaxed, pain free procedures. You will also discuss if you may need any pain management prescribed or recommended immediately after any of your procedures. Your specialist will go over all of the guidelines and recommendations for taking good oral care of yourself, before, during and after you’ve received your dental implant(s) and smile restoring crown.

WHEN BONE GRAFTING IS REQUIRED
The condition of your jawbone determines how to proceed forward to your dental implant(s). Patients who seek dental implant placement but have insufficient jawbone structure may benefit and/or require undergoing a jawbone graft in order for the dental implant process to be successful. The procedure involves strengthening the jawbone with a surgical graft to provide more bone structure. Our ability to use 3D x-ray will ensure we know exactly what level of procedure(s) you will need.
If you’re experiencing bone loss due to extended tooth loss, severe gum disease or other factors leading to insufficient jawbone structure, it is imperative we set you up for success by properly supporting the implant to allow for the pressure you will put on your jawbone while chewing. A bone graft allows for a solid base for your dental implant to achieve a strong, natural as possible result.

Your results will be natural looking and functionally confident. Being able to chew, eat whatever you want and keep your teeth clean and healthy with a full, natural to you smile, all while keeping your existing teeth healthy, can look and feel transformative for most people.
