Everything You Need To Know About Retainers

There’s a lot that goes into achieving an improved smile. Here at Sunshine Smiles, we know how hard you’ve worked throughout the treatment process, and we’re proud of you for following all of our recommendations and taking good care of your teeth while we worked to straighten them! Why Early Treatment Matters To Your Child's Smile

Why Early Treatment Matters To Your Child’s Smile

The foundation for a healthy smile begins before your child’s first tooth ever breaks through the surface of their gums. A child’s teeth start forming in the second trimester of pregnancy and by the time they’re born, some of them are already fully developed in the jaw. The earlier you initiate preventative oral care, the better chance your child will have at avoiding problems in the future. That’s why we recommend dental visits by a child’s first birthday and an orthodontic evaluation by the time they’re about seven years old—something the American Association of Orthodontists also supports!  Young children have mouths that are still developing and a good mix of permanent and baby teeth present. At this point, an experienced orthodontist like Dr. Mansour will be able to evaluate their teeth, jaw, and overall bite. This will allow him to identify any potential issues present, and determine if treatment is appropriate, whether now or in the future. For problems that are likely to become more serious over time, early treatment may be recommended. This is also referred to as interceptive treatment.  Here at Sunshine Smiles, we use interceptive treatment to intercept any developing problems and correct them. This allows us… Continue Reading

Trust An Orthodontist With Your Family’s Smiles

We have an expert team of dental and orthodontic providers here at Sunshine Smiles, and we might make achieving the perfect smile look easy. But the truth is, aligning the teeth and jaws and creating a healthy bite is actually a pretty complex process!  We’re able to achieve this by using certain orthodontic appliances to produce a precise amount of pressure on the teeth. Over time, this moves them into more desirable positions and helps correct any other issues that may be present. This specialized treatment can improve your oral health and enhance the appearance of your smile, but if you’re just looking into orthodontics, you may not even be sure where to start.  This is as good a place as any!
